HAWAIIAN HULA FOUNDATION

AM Session

Our Papa Hula Ho'okahua is the foundational class for 'ōlelo Hawai'i (Hawaiian language), oli (chant), mele (song) and hula (dance).  This is a required class for all levels of adults and teens, including our ranks of Lau Kukui,  Lauli'ili'i Kukui and Kupu Kukui.  Preteens of our Liko Kukui require instructor approval.

 

10:10 - 11:00AM

HAWAIIAN HULA PERFORMANCE

AM session

Our Papa Hula Hō'ike prepares haumāna for performances through choreography instruction in hula kahiko and hula 'auana. Instructor approval is required with concurrent enrollment in Papa Hula Ho'okahua.

 

11:10 - 12:00PM 

HAWAIIAN HULA WORSHIP

Our FREE Hawaiian Hula Ho'āno Meetup is open to the public and other hula groups (with permission of their leaders) for 'ōlelo Hawai'i, oli, mele, hula and Bible study.  This is a class focused on the spiritual aspects of hula oli, mele and hula for all ages, with or without hula experience.

 

12:10 - 1:00PM

HAWAIIAN HULA YOUTH LEVEL 1

Our Papa Hula Hua Kukui is our entry level class for ages 2 and up.

 

1:10 - 2:00pm

HAWAIIAN HULA YOUTH LEVEL 2  

Our Papa Hula Liko Kukui requires previous enrollment in youth level 1 and meeting promotion requirements and testing for instructor approval.

5:40 - 7:00pm

HAWAIIAN HULA FOUNDATION

Our Papa Hula Ho'okahua in the evening provides an alternate time and/or extra practice for haumāna, catering to the needs of those in attendance.  See our morning session description.

Monday Evenings 7PM-8PM

San Marcos Community Center (Dance Room),   3 Civic Center Drive, San Marcos, CA

Auntie Kahānoa Floresca is the resident hula instructor for the City of San Marcos Enrichment Program since 2013.  Those with or without experience will enjoy exploring the Hawaiian culture while building a strong technical foundation in hula and learning dance skills that transform the mind, body, soul and sprit.

A non-halau online class for teens and adults via Zoom hosted by Hawaiian Hula International.  This class focuses on foundational hula choreography.

Cultural Events, Church Outreaches & Performances

In addition to regular classes and workshops, Hālau Ka Lei Kukui Hi'ilani participates in various cultural events and performances throughout the year. These events provide our students with the opportunity to showcase their skills and share the beauty of hula with the community. Performances may include local festivals, cultural celebrations, church outreaches and special showcases. Participation in these events is encouraged for all students as it enriches their learning experience and fosters a sense of community. Keep an eye on our calendar for upcoming events where you can come and support our hula 'ohana.
